What the....?!?!

Ok. To keep this in perspective, I was wearing shorts yesterday morning. No I'm not kidding. I biked to the natural food store in shorts and a t-shirt. Then we woke up this morning to this...

Sure. It may not look like much, but it's freaking cold! Now I lived in Indiana for 11 years so I know what "real" snow looks like, but um... well... I don't live in Indiana anymore so I say again... What the...!

Hahaha, just because you know what real snow is like doesn't make that any less unbearable - you moved to Texas for a reason! Stay warm and drink lots of hot tea!z

Jennifer - funny you say that. I'm hunkered down in the bed with two covers, the heating pad on high and a fresh cup of my all local mint-sage tea :) I'm prepared. Although at some point I should probably get up...

I don't do well with these weather surprises. Not when I already feel the cold soooooo much.
Over here, we skipped Autumn?fall completely and headed straight into winter. *shrug* Although no snow yet.

Hee! Enjoy your 'snow' :) (Just kidding - I know it's all relative!)

I would agree - if you move to TX to avoid such a thing, it would seem shocking to have it track you down there.

BTW (re: previous post) - I would not bike when it is 30 degrees, either. And I am from MN and never wear a winter coat.

Mon - Me either. I just couldn't handle those Indiana winters, wimp that I am. I'm thankful to have a nice warm house, which unfortunately, a lot of people can't say right now. Humbling, really.

Theresa - Actually, I managed to drag my booty out of bed and went out in it. Wasn't too bad, but I was happy to jump in a warm shower. I might try to brave the cold a little later now that the wind is calming. As long as there's no ice (I'm bound to find it if there is), I'm in good shape. Brrrr....

Michelle - Actually, I biked all last winter, but the big difference now is that I know everyone at the farmers market. So it's not like I bike down there, spend 5 minutes picking up supplies and bike home (that's what I did last year). Now it's bike down, spend 2 hours talking, and bike back. You can get some serious cold-to-the-bone action going in that time. This next week, my driving excuse is delivering cookies to all the vendors :)

I made a snowball this morning...a decent real-life snowball. I threatened to throw it at a friend, teasing, but threw it into the distance instead. Yes, I lived in Michigan for years and it isn't the same, but snow in Texas hereabouts is pretty unusual. I guess all that global warming is done because this is actually the second year in a row that there was white on the ground that wasn't just ice after about ten or fifteen years since anything close.

Update... It's 3:39PM and it's still only 34 degree (so much for a high of 42) and it's snowing. No joke. It's snowing again!

Tammy - you might just be able to make more than a snowball if this keeps up :)
