Want to walk with me?

The Impact Animal Foundation, an "all-breed dog and cat rescue" based here in Bryan/College Station is hosting a 5K run/1 mile walk fundraiser on Saturday, November 8. Here are the details:
  • Date: Saturday, November 8
  • Registration Time: 8:30-9:00 AM
  • 5K Start Time: 9:00 AM
  • 1 Mile Walk Start Time: 9:30 AM
  • Place: Veteran's Park - American Pavillion
  • Registration Fee: $15 pre-registration on-line (ends Nov 1) or $20 the day of the event
Anyone want to walk with me? I'd do the 5K run, but well, I was starting to feel better last week so I started doing a little jogging and kinda hurt my ankle (oops). So walking it is! Anyone in? If so, email me so we can plan to meet. Come on... It'll be fun and the more the merrier!!!

9:30 is too early, but I wish I could...Did I ever tell you that I won an Atari when I was a kid in WalkAmerica Walk-a Thon. When you are poor, those little things are like gifts that your family just can't afford. Now, however, it feels like we have everything in comparison...my family is materialistically quite rich, even while I wear clothes and shoes past the point of worn and long for a bit of simplicity.
Anyway, I donated $40 on their website...apparently that is the cost to spay or neuter an animal...perhaps it'll help.

ttammylynn- I had an Atari too. My parents were divorced by then and my dad was pretty poor. I'm not sure where he got one (bought it at a garage sale, I'm sure) and we just got the games that went with it. I remember sitting in my room in our little bitty trailer and playing the games with him. AWESOME memories :)

That was great of you to make a donation! Thanks! They used to be Woodstock and just recently changed names, I guess. We used to visit them all the time at PetCo. Nice people. Sorry you can't walk with me. If things change, let me know. I'm brining Kelsey with me so it should be an experience!

Good for you for doing this, even on your sore ankle! We donate to our local animal shelter each year at Christmas, ever since we stopped doing a gift exchange some years ago. Animal rescue people do such good and necessary work with so little funding.

Off your topic but oh I ordered apples, organic fuji apples, smaller sized lower priced yummy fuji apples...***I did a dance***, glad ya'll couldn't see, lol. So, apples are coming soon, I paid less than two dollars a pound including shipping.
Oh, on my response I said 9:30 is too early, dang, let me qualify that, on a Saturday, I can't get off of work until later(I could've swung 11 maybe). I sound like a lazy bum the way I wrote that. I wake up at about 3 am on Saturday and work until almost noon...not so lazy, really.
Now I just have to decide what to give you for your birthday, ***November 12th everyone*** and what to call Christmas(perhaps given early). I hope those apples are as good as they were last year, wow.

theresa - what a great way to spend money during the holiday season. I like it!

ttammylynn - ooh. You're sneaky :)

I figured you probably had something else going on since you're the earliest riser I know. My body protests if there isn't daylight and these days I don't have the energy to fight it. Are you an "early to bed early to rise " kind of girl? Or can you survive on very little sleep? I'm a wimp in that department. I got to bed early, sleep in (at least until the sun comes up) and can't nap worth a darn during the day so it has to be at night or I'm a cranky-pants.

I get tired when the sun goes down around 7pm, nowish and sleep until 2:30 or 3 am...at which time my faithful hubby delivers coffee to my bedside and I wake slowly until I get out of the house around 4 am, then I help him on his route, do my route and maybe call-backs and usually wrap up a normal weekday between 2 and 4 pm. Early yes, but there is something magical about the early morning before "normal" people wake and go to work. It is quiet, peaceful and the world is perfect in a few short moments. I love early, early mornings...

ttammylynn - I can certainly see the draw of getting up early (if only I could actually do it). The quiet, the peacefulness of the hour and the ability to get things done before the distractions of the day start piling in.
