Pedal Power Update - September 2008

Beautiful September! In years past, September has been anything but a break from the intense heat of the Texas summer. This year, however, we enjoyed absolutely gorgeous temperatures. Talk about perfect biking weather!

With morning temperatures in the 60's (and sometimes even the high 50's), and afternoon temps no longer in the high 90's and low 100's, Dave and I worked some serious pedal power. Most of my trips were short 30 minute round trip rides to the bank, or library, or farmers market. Far more impressive was that Dave biked to work 3-4 times each week. With travel to work being where we log our most car miles, this made a huge dent in reducing our transportation impact on the Earth.

Unfortunately, we don't have mileage numbers for last month (since we traded in the Jeep for the Prius and I forgot to write our mileage down - oops). But at least we have July numbers to compare to. In July's Pedal Power Update, we recorded 402.7 miles for the entire month. Honestly, I thought that was pretty good. But then I recorded our mileage for September. Drumroll, please...

For the month of September, we're coming in 307 total miles! I don't know where anyone else stands, but I'm thinking that's pretty awesome! Excuse me while I do a little happy dance... You may not want to picture that. It's not exactly a pretty sight...

Sweet! That's 307 miles - in the Prius, no less which has super low emissions - we still have gas in our little 11 gallon tank, and we're both getting plenty of wonderful exercise while we enjoy this fabulous fall weather. Woohoo! Back to that happy dance...
